Aisha Ahmad is poised to become a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
On Thursday, October 5, 2017, PresidentMuhammadu Buhari presented the finance expert’s name to the Senate for confirmation.
Ahmad will be replacing the former Deputy Governor supervising Economic Policy, Sarah Alade who retired earlier this year. Her appointment is in agreement of the provisions of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007.

1. Prior to her CBN nomination, she was the Executive Director, Retail Banking at Diamond Bank.
2. Ahmad has worked in the finance sector for nearly 20 years.
She worked at Stanbic IBTC, Zenith Capital Limited, Zenith Bank Plc, Bank of New York Mellon (UK), Synesix Financial Limited (UK), and NAL Bank Plc as Head of Private Banking.
4. She holds a degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja. She also has an MBA (Finance) from the University of Lagos and an M.Sc. in Finance and Management from the Cranfield School of Management, in the United Kingdom.
5. She is passionate about women in business and leadership. Ahmad is the chairperson of the executive council of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ).
6. She is married to retired brigadier-general Abdallah Ahmad. They have two sons.
7. Ahmad who’s from Niger state was born on October 26, 1977.
