BREAKING: Former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme is dead

On October 29, Chief Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme, slipped into coma following a chest infection and was rushed to the Memfis hospital in Enugu for neurosurgery.

“Ekwueme had a quiet celebration of his 85th birthday on Oct. 21 in the company of his family members and he remained in high spirits up till his recent health challenges” - Prof Laz Ekwueme (the traditional ruler of Oko community in Anambra State).

And shortly after this, Punch reported that Alex Ekwueme is alive, stable - as confirmed by the hospital official.

But few hours ago, report got to us that Alex Ekwueme who was the Nigeria’s first elected Vice President from 1979 to 1983 under the leadership of Alhaji Shehu Shagari is dead - shortly after he was flown out of the country superficially by an air ambulance for treatment of the aforementioned health disorder.
