Warri Wolves striker Gbolahan Salami was the only domestic - based
professional that was named in the starting X1 against Chad and he
repaid the faith of manager Stephen Keshi by opening scoring in the 2 - 0
defeat of the opponents.
The former Red Star Belgrade target has confessed that the Super Eagles squandered several opportunities in the first stanza because they were anxious to score.
“I just had to deliver when I had that opportunity. What was in my mind was that I needed to score, ” Gbolahan Salami told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“We were rushing to score in the first half and missed the chances but in the second half we calmed ourselves.
“I can’t pick any particular player that was outstanding, everybody played well not only one person.”
The 24 - year - old Salami was invited to the Super Eagles on the back of his impressive performance for Warri Wolves before they exited the CAF Confederation Cup.
