A condemned prisoner, k/22c Rabi Ismail who
escaped from lawful custody in Hadejia prison on the 16th December 2011
has been recaptured by the Intelligent Unit of the Nigerian Prisons
Service (NPS) with the support of the State Security Service.
The Public Relations Officer of the Service Francis Enobore who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday said the Prisoner was sentenced to death by hanging for culpable homicide by a High Court in Kano on the 5th of January, 2005.
According to him, she was subsequently held in Kaduna Central prison from where she was transferred to Hadejia prison before she escaped about 6 years ago.

While conveying the Controller General of Prisons, Ja'afaru Ahmed's appreciation for the assistance rendered by security agencies in arresting the fugitive, he said the Prisons boss also appealed to members of the public to continue to provide useful information on escapees and indeed any criminal element in their midst to security agents.
He assured that security measures had been strengthened to prevent persons in prison custody from escaping, promising that escapees still at large will soon be fished out of their hiding.
