If you think of a secondary school with standard, whose students [both present and past] are futuristic: certainly, this very school would be one to remember. Not just because they're the first; but because they're the best in many ways you may not have deemed fit not until you get there and then see things yourself.
The first secondary institution in Nigeria, C.M.S. Grammar School, Bariga, Lagos. Founded by The Revd Thomas Babington Macaulay on the 6th of June, 1859 - is one of the best [if not the best] secondary schools we have in Nigeria. They have celebrated success that no other school has ever celebrated. And apparently, they have celebrated years that no other school has celebrated.
As the current Principal of the school (Ven. 'Tunde Oduwole) would always say - "no school in Nigeria has ever celebrated 157 years old - beat that if you can".
Personally, you may not want to condescend to the celebration of the school birth. But on the contrary, when you take yourself down the memory lane and then remember the good heads that this great citadel of learning had produced; then you will oblique to the fact that the celebration is worth it.
Our source gathered that while on the assembly this morning, the Principal [who is also the Vicar of the Anglican Church of the Nativity, Park-view, Ikoyi, Lagos] announced that the cost of the form is ₦7,500. However, he also stated that admission is only open to those coming into J.S.1, J.S.2 and S.S.1 for the 2017/2018 academic session.
The school is for boys only, and it's made up of both day and boarding; with a five star hostel built by one of the old boys of the school.
Below are the details on the examination schedule:
Date: Sat. 6th May 2017 & Thur. 27th July 2017
Time: 8:00am
Venue: School Premises
Subjects: English Language, Mathematics & General Knowledge.
To get the form, go to the school and approach the bursary: you will be guided sagaciously and amicably.
