As the season 5 of Nigerian Idol
ends tomorrow, amidst high expectations, the two finalists, Dolu and K-Peace
are set for a showdown that will definitely produce the next Nigerian Idol. At
the moment, preparation is in top gear at the Nigerian Idol studio in Bamako
Estate, Omole Phase 1, Lagos.
Fans
of the contestants are wondering who will smile home with the coveted prize of
N7.5 million, a brand new SUV, a Galaxy Tab, a phone, an iPod and a recording
deal with Universal Music Company. While the first runner up gets N1.5million,
a Galaxy Tab, a phone and an iPod while the second runner up gets N1 million, a
Galaxy Tab, a phone and an iPod.
The platform, made possible by the
leading indigenous telecom giant, Etisalat, is expected to serve as a
springboard for launching the career of several budding artists as bona-fide
stars in the Nigerian music industry. This fifth edition has been fun-filled;
the live audiences are electric and the judges are having fun. The fun-feeling
was understandably contagious as it did not leave out viewers at home who
kept tuning in and voting.
The emergence of one of the two
finalists, Ogunmoyero , 25 year old civil servant from Ondo state popularly
known as Dolu and Ogunrombi Kunle , 32 year old who is into music from
Ogun state popularly known as K Peace as the eventual winner of the Nigerian
Idol Season five will not be a surprise to anyone. From beginning, the
two were definitely major contenders and the audience’s favourite.
They both delighted their fans with
extraordinary and unpredictable display of high energy and creativity as they
came to the show with natural talent and creative ability that got
better at every outing which got viewers cum audience applauding and voting.
Dolu’s vocal prowess, outstanding
stage presence, easy-going personality and infectious smile, has wowed the
judges and viewing public with local and international classics as well
as top hit songs over the last four months. Since her audition in
Ibadan, Dolu has proven that rapid growth and improvement is her major
strength. Also, K –Peace who is known as the king of Fuji and originality in
the show is one contestant that has won the hearts of the judges and general
public.
Performing the Fuji version of the
popular John Legend song, All of Me, K-Peace won a golden ticket into the
competition and since then has continued to build a strong fan base. To him, the Nigerian Idol platform
is a needed opportunity to launch him into the league of his mentors and idols
in the industry. But the question is, will K-Peace’s overwhelming stage
presence, dramatic performances and vocal dexterity, give him an edge over the
unbeatable Dolu and see him through to victory as the second male Nigerian
Idol?
