The Publisher of Ovation magazine,
Mr. Dele Momodu, on Thursday, said although he is an ardent supporter
of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola
Tinubu, he does not support Tinubu’s rejection of Bukola Saraki’s
election as Senate President.
Momodu described Saraki’s election as
fair. Specifically, he said on his official Twitter page, “I’m Tinubu’s
boy more than most but won’t join them in misleading our master.”
Tinubu has refused to recognise Senator
Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the
House of Representative, respectively.
While
referring to himself as “an independent-minded Tinubu boy,” Momodu said
he is an ardent supporter of fair play and that he represents no
interest.
According to him, Saraki deserves the position because he also “depleted the PDP for the sake of the APC.”
He said he wondered what the other APC
senators were doing at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, when
they were supposed to be at work.
The publisher berated those criticising
Saraki’s election, saying they were pretending as if the PDP was not an
integral part of the coalition that led to the emergence of the APC. He
commended Saraki for working across party lines.
The tweets read, “Saraki didn’t sell
out, he only got more votes while others were busy cooking their
chicanery elsewhere. I am far closer to Tinubu and the NADECO group but
fair is fair.
“Nigeria belongs to all. I supported
former President Goodluck Jonathan when he was being intimidated and I
wasn’t a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
“I salute Senator David Mark and Senator
Ike Ekweremadu. They could have reneged on supporting Saraki but saw
what APC refused to see. Truth must be established. In every game of
wits, a party will always be outwitted. I am uniting them by letting
them see what went wrong in their game of wits.”
